The new French DVD edition

Do you have any questions about this new edition which has been issued on October 3rd ?

I ordered the above box set from DVDRAMA (over a month ago and sill havn't received it yet!) and was wondering if the French Subtitles can be turnd off? I recently bought the Saison 1 Keel episodes off ebay and they are a joy to watch, however subtitles are permanant. It's not too much of a problem but just wondering....I look forward to your reply.

J'ai commandé le coffret mentionné à DVDRAMA (il y a plus d'un mois et j'ai toujours rien reçu !) et je me demandais si les sous-titres français pouvaient être retirés. J'ai récemment acheté les épisodes Keel de la saison 1 sur e bay et c'était un plaisir à regarder bien que les sous-titres ne peuvent être ôtés. ce n'est pas un gros problème, c'est juste pour savoir...j'attends votre réponse.

Quel coffret as tu commandé ? La nouvelle édition est sortie en France que le 3 octobre dernier et cela pourrait expliquer le retard.
Les sous titres français peuvent être retirés sauf sur ces coffrets New Avengers.

Hi Denis, here are a few questions about the new Canal Integral saision sets. I was wondering if Volume two, three, four and five have fixed or optional french subtitles. Also, are the opening and closing credits and story titles in english or french? AS I have started collecting the Chapeau Melon box sets I naturally want to keep buying them so my Avengers dvd collection matches, I was just hoping that the original opening and closing title sequences were kept. Thanks for all your help!

Bonjour Denis, voici quelques questions concernant les nouveaux coffrets Canal. Je me demandais si les volumes deux, trois, quatre et cinq ont des sous-titres français incrustés ou amovibles. Aussi, est ce que les génériques de début et de fin ainsi que les titres des épisodes sont en français ou en anglais ? Comme j'ai commencé à collectionner les coffrets chapeau melon, je voudrais continuer à les acheter afin que ma collection ne soit pas dépareillée et j'espère que les séquences de début et de fin ont été conservées. Merci pour votre aide.

Oh and if the credits are in french, how much different is it from the originals? Are the sequences and music exactly the same, just it's not called The Avengers rather Chapeau Melon et Bottes de Cuir...

I can only answer for the Emma Peel seasons and the Tara King season.
The sets are exactly the same copies of the previous dvds released by Studio Canal.
For The Emma Peel seasons (monochrome and colour), you can have the original credits. (the opening credit in English is slightly different from the French one in the colour season for instance). You also have the possibility to have French or English subtitles. They are optional. In short, we can watch the Emma Peel seasons in 100% English or 100% French as you like.
It's different for the Tara King season. You don't have the original credits. Everything is in French (title included). It is the 'armour' opening on each Tara episode. Nevertheless, we can watch it in English and the subtitles are optional as well. In fact, only the New Avengers dvds have fixed subtitles.
As for Cathy Gale, I don't have any but I think the subtitles are optional. Anyway, these seasons were never translated in French, so the credits are original. Hope that helps.

Je peux seulement répondre pour les saisons Emma Peel et la saison Tara King. Les coffrets sont exactement les mêmes copies que celles mises sur le marché par studio canal antérieurement.
Pour les saisons Emma Peel (n&b et couleur), on peut avoir les génériques originaux (le générique de début de la saison couleur en anglais est légèrement différent de celui en français par exemple). On a également la possibilité d'avoir les sous-titres français ou anglais. Ils sont amovibles. En bref, on peut regarder les saisons Emma Peel en 100% anglais ou 100% français.
C'est différent pour la saison Tara. Il n'y a pas les génériques originaux. Tout est en français (titre de l'épisode compris). C'est le générique des armures pour chaque épisode Tara. Néanmoins, on peut les regarder en anglais sans sous-titre. En fait, seuls les New avengers ont des sous-titres incrustés.
En ce qui concerne les Cathy Gale, je ne les ais pas mais je pense que les sous-titres sont amovibles. De toute façon, ces saisons n'ont jamais été doublées et les génériques sont par conséquent les originaux. J'espère que cela t'aidera.

I confirm: the subtitles are removable on the Cathy Gale sets. Why ? Simply because, Studio Canal has the international rights for dvd edition of the Avengers!

There's a question about the French New Avenger discs on the international forum. In the original opening credits there's the use of some archive footage from a screen test with Gareth Hunt and Joanna Lumley. Is this screen test as an extra present on the French discs?

I've juste read the international forum.
Yes, the screen test is on the DVD set without any sound. It is on the first DVD of the first set (the blue one). This is one of the bonuses of this edition.

I prefer the american dvds. In these dvds the episodes castle death girl fron Auntie and THE thirteenth hole are in complete version whereas in France it's not the case !

Is "The Thirteenth Hole" really complete on the U.S. discs? Even the British version is cut (about one minute is missing).

I saw recently the episode and I didn't see scenes which are cut .

Sorry if i ask a stupid question but does anyone knows why there are some cuts ?
it would be easy to understand if it was nudity or violence but that's not the case, so why ?
