Belyn et Eris, les webmasters du nouveau site sur Diana Rigg ont répondu à mes questions. Voici leurs réponses que je traduirai dans un proche avenir.
When and how did you discover The Avengers?
Belyn - I only discovered the Avengers in 2005. I was watching 'Bleak House' and realized Diana Rigg was the woman from 'The Avengers'. I hadn't seen it before but decided I would watch it if I ever ran across it. An episode (The Forget-Me-Knot) aired on BBC America within the next day or two. I was immediately hooked and ordered the Emma Peel Megaset that night.
Eris - It must have been after we started creating the site! Belyn was the fan, not me - she provided the Diana Rigg information and I did the coding. But then I started to get interested in Diana Rigg (I had to, just in self-defence - spending hours working with information about someone, you have to get interested in them or bore yourself to death!) and Belyn gave me copies of some of her favourite Avengers episodes, and I think I'd ordered the Emma Peel Megaset before I'd even finished watching them!
What are your favourite season and episodes?
Belyn - I think my favorite season was 1967. The color episodes were fun because you could see the wildness of Emma's flat and some of those clothes. My favorite epsisode is 'Who's Who?' and 'The Joker' runs a close second. Other favorites are 'The House That Jack Built', 'Escape In Time', 'What The Butler Saw', etc.
Eris - I think, overall, my choice of season would have to be '66, as that has several of my favourite episodes. I love Honey For The Prince, The House That Jack Built, and A Touch of Brimstone. Murdersville and Death At Bargain Prices are favourites too.
Why did you create a site?
Belyn - A group of friends were sitting together on a vacation in London. We were discussing all the Diana/The Avengers related things I had bought or gotten signed and a huge scrapbook a friend had. One friend suggested putting the stuff on a website, so all the fans could see it. The idea went from there.
Eris - It seemed like a good idea at the time! I can't remember now which of us had the idea, but it just seemed to take off. I don't think, when we first started, any of us expected it to turn out as big as it has.
How would you describe your site?
Belyn - I've been told it's an educational resource (and a library) for Diana Rigg fans. I like that description. :-)
Eris - A comprehensive Diana Rigg archive and news site.
How long (did) do you spend making your site?
Belyn - It was six months before the site went up, but three months of that was filled with really hard work. It opened in March of 2006 and we have never stopped working on it. I hope it's never actually 'finished' but, even now, it's not even close to where I want it to be. There are still so many pictures, articles, etc to be put on the site. We're not even close to being finished.
Eris - It took a few months to set up originally. Now it's mainly updates and maintenance every week, plus extra time when we decide to re-jig something and make life difficult for ourselves!
What can a fan find only on your site?
Belyn - I think the VIP section is pretty unique. It's a place where we put rare stuff so all the fans can see it for free without having to pay a fortune to buy a bad copy on Ebay.
Eris - I have no idea - before creating the website, I wasn't a Diana Rigg or Avengers fan, so I'd never looked to see what anyone else had out there. Now, I think most things that are available are either on our site already or waiting till we have time to put them up.
Why is The Avengers still popular nowadays?
Belyn - Style and class never goes out of fashion.
Eris - I'm trying to think why it is that I like it so much: some great acting, obviously; the flirty relationship between Steed and Mrs Peel; witty and amusing scripts. I think it all comes down to the fact that it was just good television, and quality doesn't date.
